Information for New Parents

For clarity, mainly for Dulwich College pupils, Scouting activities are organised and provided by the 25th Camberwell Scout Group / Dulwich Explorers, and youngsters need to be a member of the Scout Association to participate. Dulwich College sponsors the Group, providing support with headquarters space, use of minibuses, etc., but Scouting activities are organised by the Scout Group, not Dulwich College.

Information for parents of current members


There is an annual subscription (£110 in 2018-19) which covers the annual capitation fee to the Scout Association Headquarters for insurance and the operating costs of the Scout movement; weekly meeting costs; and a contribution towards the cost of running the Scout Van and our wider equipment replacement. Trips, camps, and activities are usually charged separately. Cost should not be a barrier to anyone taking part in Scouting and there are a number of sources of support available if this is an issue. Please speak with your Section Leader in confidence. Subscription payments can be made via OSM.

If you are a UK tax payer, we would urge you to make your son's/daughter's subscription subject to Gift Aid because, as a charity, we can benefit from the recovery of income tax, adding significantly to our annual income. To do this, simply complete the Gift Aid declaration in OSM.

Online Scout Manager (OSM)

We are in the process of moving all our administration to an online system called Online Scout Manager. This will reduce the amount of paper form filling and duplicate requests for information etc., as well as support compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The system will allow parents to access the data we hold, ensuring we have up-to-date contact details, and manage all trip bookings, subscriptions, and other payments in one place.

Group Executive Committee

The Scout Group is run by the Group Executive Committee which is made up of the leaders, some parents, and other supporters. We're always after new members, so if you can contribute approximately five evenings a year of your time to help ensure the smooth running of the Scout Group then please email us!
